Ryan grew up on the waters of Montana's Flathead Lake, where he learned to sail at his father's side and spent summers teaching others the rhythm of the wind and waves.
His journey took him to the heart of Maui’s sailing scene, honing his skills with working for prestigious sailing companies and building Wake Maui LLC, where he learned not just how to captain a boat, but how to run a business.
Through the ashes rose something simpler and more soulful: just a guy and his loyal companion Boomer—his Salty Dog
Ryan weathered the storms of the 2007-08 financial crisis and the quiet stillness of COVID shutdowns, but it was the devastating Lahaina fires that truly reshaped his and his crew’s lives—claiming his four boats, his truck, and their homes.
